, We’re so busy, should we bother?

Dear Chayah,

Last time we talked, you were wondering why women, with their incredibly busy lives, should spend “more” time on healing themselves, no matter on what level, unless something is really “wrong”.

The way I see it, we are all really busy but are we BUSY? There is so much in every woman’s life, at every age, that we can often forget who we are and what we are living for. Each Jewish woman is precious and unique in all Creation. We have souls that are directly connected to the Creator of the Universe. We were sent into the bodies that we inhabit for a special journey of growth – to develop our real selves, the self that we will take with us after 120 years, to realize who we really are and get close to our Creator. We are given stewardship of our own special area of the World. We are given the responsibility to interact with other precious souls to help them on their journey. We are a key cell in the body of Am Yisroel.

Pharaoh showed us one of the success strategies of the “Other Side”- to keep us so busy with “important” things that we spend no time in assessing where we are, who we are and how we are progressing towards our real goals. We have a beautiful body that we were given to use in this journey – Are we caring for it as well as we would for a pet? We were given senses on many levels to guide our journey – Are we listening? Are we using all the challenges in our lives, past and present, as opportunities for growth – Or are we suffering burdens?

I have had the unique privilege of being with Jewish souls who are drawing their first breath in this World, and with those leaving and releasing their last one. There are no pockets in tachrin (burial shrouds); you leave with the growth you’ve accomplished. Everything in your life was lovingly placed there for your benefit on the road.

We usually need a midwife for the best birth, sometimes we need help on the road in our ultimate job of giving birth to our true self.

Much good wishes on your journey,

Dr. Shoshana Savyon, PhD, DHM
