What on Earth is a Breema?

Filed under: Movement and Exercise,Wellness Building — Shoshana Savyon @ 11:16 am

rose…bodywork unlike anything you’ve ever felt before, yet mysteriously familiar, evoking a forgotten naturalness and the joyful innocence of childhood.  Gentle and nurturing, at the same time so deeply penetrating that every aspect of your life is affected.  In a matter of minutes, you’re miles away from stress and worry.  You feel uplifted and embraced by life.  You feel at peace, refreshed, vitalized and balanced.  You feel whole.

Breema is energetic food that nourishes us on a cellular and metabolic level; a natural “medicine” that touches the core of our Being.  Without force, Breema penetrates rigid layers of tension and armouring and catalyzes an awakening of vitality.  In effect, Breema finds what’s healthiest and most alive in you and nurtures and energizes it more.  Your body then heals itself, in the safest, most natural way possible.  That’s why Breema can have such a transformative effect on our posture, our joints, our muscles, digestion, circulation, breathing and blood pressure, not to mention our emotional system, and psychological outlook on life.

Breema bodywork is received fully clothed on a padded floor.  Deeply nurturing and non-judgemental, Breema uses comfortable, well supported movements and firm-yet-gentle stretches and leans to counteract the effects of stress, balance your energy and ease physical tension. The quality of touch is never hesitant or forceful – so Breema supports you physically and energetically in ways that are perfectly natural for your body.

Common benefits of Breema include:

*tension/pain relief and increased flexibility
*a calm, clear, non-reactive state of mind
*feeling nurtured and energized in the midst of your busy life.
*improved function of internal organs
*supports your body’s healing process after an injury, trauma, surgery, or illness
*helps the body detoxify
*balances the over-stimulation of modern life
*soothes the nerves

And best of all, Breema is fun!

In addition to offering Breema as a treatment method, Heliotrope provides periodic workshops that are great fun and designed to help participants integrate Breema into a healthy life-style.  The 7 week workshop provides classes that are 11/2 hours long.  We start with self-Breema exercises which are playful and help us to become present and more flexible in our bodies.   Then we learn different sequences that we practice with a partner, so each person has the experience of giving and receiving the bodywork.

We are fortunate to have Keter Shapiro as our instructor. Keter is a Certified Breema bodywork Practitioner and Instructor.  She has been practicing Breema since 1994 and loves every minute of it.
